Unhappy Town

ABC, say it ain't so! But it is. "Happy Town" was canceled today.
If you haven't been watching (and obviously you haven't, nor has anyone else but me), this show had the potential to be really great, not to mention enormously creepy. Since the first episode, I've compared it to a watered-down "Twin Peaks." While "Happy Town" certainly wasn't as good as "Twin Peaks," it was some great television, especially for summer. The series revolves around the mystery of the Magic Man, who kidnapped a bunch of people several years ago and appears to be making a comeback in a tiny little town. Sound familiar? Yeah. But it was really great! I loved it. A guy hammered a railroad spike through another guy's forehead. Seriously. And Amy Acker is on as the wife of the small town sheriff and, of course, she is fantastic, as are many of the other cast members.

Apparently, ABC doesn't even know if it will air the last 2 episodes that have been taped. My DVR says no, no more "Happy Town" for me. I haven't watched last night's episode yet. Looks like now I'll be saving it for a rainy day.

  1. I'm told ABC will burn off the last two "Happy Town" episodes on a Saturday night this summer. But it won't be before mid-July. If you want to catch them, don't delete your series record setting just yet.

  2. Thanks, Pat! I read that, but I wasn't sure if it was true or not. Awesome.

  4. That's a great thought! We should start an email campaign for that!

  5. An update: Saturday Burn-Off Theater was a bust for ABC, so it's unlikely these final two episodes of "Happy Town" will turn up there after all. But the news isn't all bad. Episode 7, "Dallas Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," and episode 8, "Blame It On Rio Bravo," are available for online streaming at ABC.com and hulu.com/happy-town
